Maestro’s brilliance in vain

Sachin Tendulkar almost drove India home in the 5th ODI played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad. The master rendered his best when Indians needed it the most and that was still not enough to win the game for the Men in Blue. Shane Watson (93) and Shaun Marsh (112) boosted Australia to a total of 350. Chasing 351, India was struggling at 162/4 in nearly 24 overs with Sachin still at the crease unbeaten on 95 and the rest of the team contributing a meager 61 runs. The little maestro needed to play a big innings which is exactly what he did scoring a massive 175 off just 141 balls with 19 fours and 4 sixes. Sachin combined with Suresh Raina (59) for a 5th wicket partnership of 137 runs off 114 balls. In the end India was reneged off victory as a late surge of wickets left India 4 runs short off victory losing the last six wickets for 48runs. The match was very exciting though wrecking nerves till the last over. Sedation was the key ingredient Indians had missed out in their victory pill. But Sachin’s one man show would have entertained cricket lovers all over the world and will be one of the best ODI innings in many more years to come.
